A NEW BEGINNING

We have entered a partnership with SOARAWAY, an educational consulting firm that also does capacity building for NGOs. Through this partnership we shall be running several programs that will benefit our children and the general community of Kisoro. The first intervention is a RESOURCE CENTRE containing academic books and other literature for children, teachers and the community to read.
We are also assisting SOARAWAY to reach schools in Kisoro where we shall start "iSOAR"clubs. Through these clubs we shall be assisting students with personal develpopment skills like goal setting, guiding them in their career choices and imparting positive values for their character development.
Academic seminars, an annual workcamp in Kampala and exchange programs are some of the upcoming interventions.

To kick off all that, we have done a training of trainers for teachers and student leaders who will be spearheading these programs in their institutions. 100 participants from both secondary schools and tertiary institutions were selected. We took them out to a health centre in the village for communtiy work at the end of the training. We helped to clean around the premises.
The training was officially opened by the District Education Officer, the government supervisor of education at district level.
We are hoping to be able to access some donor agencies through this relationship so that we can do the project income generating project that has been on our hearts for a long time.

Thanks for your continued support!!

FUN WITH VISITORS

It was great fun for our children as they played and interacted with the team from SOARAWAY. The visitors were from Kampala and the U.S. They played games and we distributed books, pens and pencils to them.
Great things lie ahead in this new partnership!

A NEW HOPE

Visiting Justine and her family after the death of her mother. Her mum was their only bread winner. However, we thank God for the relative who has offered to take care of them. We are now looking for a sponsor for Jackyline, Justine's younger sister. We are continuing to support the family with basic necessities. We can, together, give this family a new hope.

Empowering the young generation with knowledge

Children need knowledge of themselves, their surroundings and their rights to make wise decisions and protect themselves from all forms of abuse.
In this centre day we focussed our sensitization on child trafficking and kidnap. We taught them about the trap of kidnappers and the risk factors.
Child kidnap is a common phenomenon in Uganda these days. So we thought to protect our children with information. They were taught how to avoid the traps of kidnappers and stay safe.

REVISION TIME

We are still helping our children to settle in and get used to the new school(for the new ones) and to their new classes. We therefore took time to do general revision with them and talk to them about the importance of staying in school and completing their studies.
We thank God that the ones who went to secondary school and one in vocational training are doing well.

This is a great improvement because some of them had grown tired of school and had started missing classes. However, now they are motivated and are concentrating.
Lets continue to work together to get more children out of the circle of poverty and illiteracy.
